I currently have an Advanced Certificate in Business Computing which I got in 1992. It is so out of date now (even though I still use most of what I learned) that no one recognizes it, so I thought it was about time I updated/upgraded my credentials. My enrollment in OTEN’s Certificate IV in Information Technology Support was accepted on 14 April 2015. I have until 14 April 2017 to complete it.
04 May 2015 06:30 – Just finished my first assignment for a Certificate IV in Information Technology Support. The first unit is about Work Health and Safety.
07 May 2015 19:30 – Just got my results a few minutes ago, passed with a comment that the paper and research were to a very high standard. That’s not bad considering I find the subject total boring and it was the first bit to true study that I have done in about 10 years. This is a great boost to my confidence, I was starting to have doubts about my ability to actually write this legibly let alone being able to remember it all – was a solid 2 weeks of research. It was stated that I would need to do 40 hours work to complete this, I must have taken at least 70 to 80 hours. Hopefully I will get a lot quicker. Not bad for an old fart.
Well time to start the next assessment, it is due 25 May.
Mid April 2015 – I had a stroke that affected my vision. I have a seizure about every 10 minutes that last 1.5 to 2 minutes where the vision in my right eye becomes blurred. This causes me problems with hand-eye coordination, reading, concentrating, walking and constantly feeling like I want to throw up, I find more effects each day. The up shot of it all is that it leaves me feeling very nauseous and I will not be permitted to drive until 6 months after my last seizure. The reading and concentrating issues have meant that my studies have been put aside for a while.
27 November 2015 – I have been on anti-seizure medication since 25 April and so far (fingers crossed) I have not had another seizure but the sight in my right eye has been affected, vision is blurred and a bit distorted in places. Most of this should be fixed by getting a new set of glasses. Another consequence is that I have not as yet resumed my study but I will get back to it before Christmas (if I stop procrastinating).
