Been on a Criminal Minds binge for the last few days. Just had my second annoying episode. Well, annoying enough to write about anyway.
The team are on their way to rescue a woman and capture her tormentor. There are a number of things that annoyed me about the rescue scene in this episode:
- They arrive at the scene with lights flashing and sirens blaring. In the real would this would not happen, they would more than likely have the lights flashing but they definitely would not have the sirens going. This would alert the unsub and he could do anything to his victim and/or prepare for their arrival or escape.
- An unarmed/untrained man beats the living crap out of JJ, who we know from earlier episodes is a martial arts and boxing expert and could beat her instructors but she could not beat this load of crap.
- Kate plays a tape of the victim being tortured WHILE THE VICTIM IS STILL IN THE ROOM. Very sensitive, I am sure that this would not have traumatized the victim even further.
Come on guys, the standards are falling a bit.
There is something that I have noticed in nearly every episode where family, friends or suspects are interviewed or are waiting. The incident board with pictures of the victims and suspects is always in full view. In what universe are law enforcement going to do this ? It would be VERY traumatic for the family and friends and it would give suspects invaluable information. If I was a family member and saw this I would sue the crap out of them from traumatizing me and I would win easily. In one episode they have family members from two victims sitting in different rooms and you can clearly see the incident board from each room – WTF ???
