I am in a bit of a bad mood today, for reasons I will not get into, and I need to vent.
Just got an email from a book club I belong to telling me that I have a free book available on Google Play (AKA Play Store). When I try to DL the book I get prompted for payment details and it will not continue until something valid is entered eg Credit Card, PayPal.
Why do I have to give them payment details if what I am downloading is FREE? Do they have admin fees that they charge for free stuff? Do they want to charge me a fee for opening an account? I think I will do without the free book thanks very much. I will only enter payment details WHEN I HAVE SOMETHING TO PAY.
And Google —- FUCK YOU.
For a while now I have been getting emails from EA stating that a request has been made to reset the password on my account – it is a good policy to send these emails just in case of something dodgy is taking place. The only problem is that I do not have a Star Wars: The Old Republic account. I had the password reset and checked the account.
It appears that someone has created the account using my email address and that they are using other peoples credit cards to buy in game credit and then transferring that credit to other accounts. Try as I might I cannot contact EA (without incurring a cost to myself and without downloading/installing a game I do not want) and advise them of the situation. They also do not supply a means for the account to be deleted or deactivated online. I have searched online and apparently this is a well known and widespread issue yet EA appear to not give a damn that they are party to fraud.
Others online have followed EA’s instructions and called the toll free number (which BTW is NOT toll free from where I live) to be met with complete indifference and no action being taken. Maybe someone needs to start legal proceedings against EA and then maybe they will start taking notice. If one of the victims targeted using the account with my email address decide to take action against me as the supposed owner of that account I WILL be taking legal action against EA and will be demanding a MAJOR payout.
So EA to avoid any future legal action please delete all the fraudulent accounts that you have – you can contact me via this blog to get the details of the fraudulent account that is accredited to me. A quick search online will give you an idea of how huge this problem is and the thousands of people that are victims of fraud because of your inaction and indifference.
I have purchased games from EA in the past and if my experience in the past few weeks is anything to go by, once they have your money they do not care. SO.. since they do not care about me I will not be purchasing anything from EA again and I will be advising everyone I know to avoid them like the plague. EA you have now lost at least one customer.
Update 05 December 2016: Still receiving the emails and still have not heard anything from EA.
I was not going to make any posts regarding this years Australian Election but the inaccurate reporting by ALL media has got me really pissed off.
This evening the news on TV stated that the latest results supplied by the AEC were Coalition : 75 seats, Labor : 67 seats, Others: 5 seats, Undecided: 8 seats Total 155 seats BUT THERE ARE ONLY 150 SEATS AVAILABLE. It just so happened that I was on the AEC web site when these were stated so I refreshed the page and checked the figures. According to the AEC OFFICIAL WEB SITE the results at the time were: Coalition : 71 seats, Labor : 71 seats, Others: 5 seats, Undecided: 3 seats. Which AEC site do the media get their information from?
The figures released by the TV station were reflected on every other media web site I checked, the numbers varied a little (Coal. seats varying from 71 to 76, Labor from 64 to 67). Who do we believe? The media or the Australian Electoral Commission?
On the TV news last night they had an article about the price of electricity going up. The increase is 10% on average. Just got notified by my supplier that they will be increasing their prices by 15%. WTF!!! My supplier is the largest in the state and I would have thought that that would have gotten them a better wholesale price, obviously not.
I am looking at changing suppliers but absolutely none of them have their rates online, they will only give any information if I supply all my contact details – name, address, phone number (mobile & landline), email address etc.. With these details you also have to agree to receive offers and promotional material from them and their “strategic” partners. Why can’t I just enter the post code and they give me an estimate for this area? All I want is to compare prices I do not want to start a fucking relationship, if I do not choose their product I do NOT want to hear from them again but knowing companies in this country I would get emails and phone calls from them and their “strategic” partners on at least a weekly basis.
P.S. they all reserve the right to on-sell my details to any 3rd party they want, which would mean even more unwanted emails and phone calls.
It appears that to do any business in this country you need to sell your soul and privacy for nothing. There should be a way that if I supply any details to a company and they make profit from that information then I should get a cut, after all it is my information not theirs.
Since my last few posts have been vents/whinges I thought I would post something positive.
Over the last few weeks I have been going to Saint Georges Hospital, Kogarah, for various tests and check-ups (still have more to go). I must give my heart felt thanks to the staff in the Neurology, Cardiac, Nuclear Medicine, Endocrinology and Out Patients departments. Every time I have been they have been fantastic (with the exception of one person, she got a bit snippy because I interrupted the game she was playing on her phone). Every one is friendly, patient and encouraging and will answer any query I may have and includes 2 busy doctors that went out of their way to help me make and keep appointments in other departments.
Thanks guys. I always feel in a better mood and frame of mind whenever I leave, no matter why I was visiting in the first place nor if the news was good or bad. I always leave feeling that I have hope and that people actually care.
Was just watching the movie Race to Witch Mountain on Channel 7 Sydney, I was bored and it is not a great movie but even so I know a couple of kids that love it. So imagine their reaction when Channel 7 cut off the last 5 minutes of the movie. Nice going 7, showing as much contempt of your viewers as 10. Now thanks to 7, someone has to rent the DVD so the kids can finish watching. I wonder if the 7 editor goes through the kids shelves in libraries and rips out the last few pages of all the books? Seems like type of thing that would get their rocks off – ruining things for kids, letting the parents/guardians handle the fall out. Channel 7 gets my vote as douche of the week.
I also cannot find anyway at all of contacting them or leaving feed back on their web sites, just goes to show what they think of their viewers – nothing.
Just finished watching Batman v Superman . Must be one of the slowest movies I have ever seen, definitely will NOT be having a second viewing.
Just for the record I do not think that Superman is gone permanently, the last second of the picture before the credits gives a hint. Did you catch it? None of my friends noticed until I pointed it out.
P.S. And the fact that Superman will appear in the sequel gives an even bigger hint. BTW I did not know there was a sequel until after writing this.
Channel 10 – your Catch Up service tenplay leaves a lot to be desired and has a number annoying features. The most annoying feature is playing the final set of ads and then returning for the last 10 seconds of program, it has become so predictable that I now stop watching the moment the first ad starts. There is no point watching 1 minute of ads to get 10 seconds of program.
Malfunctions in playing ads.
I have had ads fail to start requiring a refresh of the browser tab and having the ads start from the beginning again - a one time I had to refresh 3 times because there was a problem with the 4th ad, so instead of watching 4 ads I ended up watching 10, not happy.
I have had 2 ads play at the same time - not really an issue for me but your advertisers might get a bit annoyed.
Channel 10 (and other free-to-air channels) have always denied that they increase the volume on their ads over that which they use for the program, I challenge anyone to watch a program on tenplay and try and tell me that the volume on the ads is not at least twice that of the program. It is so bad that I have gotten use to hitting the mute button the second an ads starts.
Timing of ads. When the ads start playing the program carries on in the back ground so we lose a few seconds of the program when it returns. If ALL the other channels can get this right - why can't you?
Your live streaming is also garbage compared to every other service out there – do something about it. My landlord refuses to install an external aerial so my TV reception is crap, most days I am lucky if I can receive more than a couple of channels. I do nearly all my viewing via my PC so catch up and live streaming are really the only way I can watch TV. Your services are so bad that I can get far better quality viewing using a VPN and watching foreign services. I quite often now watch live streaming from the US and UK so I am usually a head of Australia in most programs – yet another way free-to-air broadcasters show their contempt of the Australian viewer.
Come to think of it there is another way free-to-air show their contempt – they lie to their customers. A while back I was watching a match between the Wallabies and the All Blacks, the game was advertised as “LIVE”. At half time I called a friend in NZ and was surprised to find out that the game was in its last 10 to 15 minutes. Since when had a delay of 30 minutes been classed as a “LIVE” broadcast? Fortunately I am not a gambling person or I could have taken quite a bit money from betting on the game (at half time Aus had a handy lead but NZ basically scored at will in the second half and ended winning by a large margin).
Channel Ten and other Australian free-to-air broadcasters, you keep complaining that viewing numbers are down – well stop treating your viewers as if they are morons and just there for YOUR convenience. You are providing a service, WE are you customers so treat us as such.
The way Micro$haft are handling the Windows 10 “Upgrade” is pissing me off greatly.
I have stopped numerous “Updates” from installing that would start the upgrade WITHOUT my consent. M$ if I wanted to upgrade I would NOT keep stopping your bloody upgrades, so stop pissing me off and ignoring my wishes/decisions.
As things stand once M$ stop supporting Windows 7 I am going to find an alternative OS. I am sick and tired of how Micro$haft treat me. I use software that WILL NOT RUN under Windows 10 (I have tried), so unless you are prepared to pay for replacement software or change Windows 10 to support the existing software – PISS OFF.
I already have a Linux machine that does everything I need but it is an under powered laptop so it takes a lot longer to complete tasks than my main Windows 7 PC. Once Windows 7 is no longer supported I will convert my PC to Linux – to hell with it, I’ll do that anyway ASAP. Well M$ you have just lost a client permanently. I have never been an Apple fan but even they look more enticing than M$ now.
Goodbye Microsoft, hope to never meet you again. (giving you a one finger salute)
P.S. I work in the IT industry (and have done for many years), I will be advising my clients to avoid M$ products if they possibly can.
Just got a “Yellow Envelope” sales coupon.
Cellarmasters: The Incredible Dozen now 60% off – 12 bottles of wine for $69 saving $106
Sounds great until you read the small print – there is a $120 handling fee plus a $120 delivery fee giving a total of $309 ($189 if you collect) ==== WTF. That is an average of $25.75 per bottle. Checked their advertised 12 bottles against their web site – mean bottle price <$10, So instead of “saving” $106 on ordering the 12 pack and getting it delivered I can “save” $189 by driving to the shop and paying retail.
They really do think very little of the average customers intelligence don’t they? But then again they must be getting some bites or they would not continue repeating the offer.
